How is undergrad math at dartmouth?

bump(10char)

Post this again on the Dartmouth forum.

As a current student, I've been told that the math department here is mostly great with a few drawbacks. We offer many challenging courses with highly-qualified professors. The department is relatively small so math majors get lots of attention. The biggest downside I've heard about is that some of the profs give dry lectures.

Also, many students take Math and Social Sciences courses. These seem especially interesting because they combine social science disciplines such as economics with advanced mathematical concepts.

In general, Dartmouth is very undergrad focused. All profs are there to teach undergrads, not graduates. And while many of them conduct research, this is not their primary focus.

Check out the department website here:

Its a strong department. Additionally Dartmouth, being undergrad focused, sets its grads up very well for top grad schools (its top 7 in grad placement) and recruiting (its right after HYP when it comes to recruiting).
