I am a korean american in california
GPA: UW 3.1 W 3.65
SAT: 2160 (M:790, CR: 700, W: 670)
SAT IIs: Korean 800, Math IIC 760
11 AP's including this year(taking 4 this year)
Okay EC's
I'm getting recommendations from one of Congressman of Korea, and Mayor of one of cities in Mexico. I'm not sure how much these will help, but i'm assuming it's better than nothing.
How's my chance?
I know my GPA is below average but...
yeah.. what do you guys think?
which colleges other than NYU would be match for me?

Please! any opinions?

that gpa is pretty low but the SAT is pretty high.
So it could go either way

thx redsox7327. any other opinions?

gpa counts significantly more than sat's... so it depends on your rank (if published) and how competitive a school you are at... the 11 APs will help you alot though

i'm certainly not an nyu admissions officer.. but maybe you can explain why your GPA is significantly lower than what your test scores show (if there was some event in your life, or something in the family or personal life).. taking 11 APs is great, how well did you do in those classes/ap exams?

i'm pretty sure that nyu only reads 1 rec and it should be someone that has taught you in the academic sense.

anyway.. your GPA is low but your SAT is high (and i think NYU treasures high SATs)... so it might come down to your ecs/recs/essay..

my school does not publish ranks but it's one of the best high schools in california. I passed most of the AP tests. I think i got 2 on three of them. Couple 3's, and one 4 and 5. thx stonecold23 and applicant2006!

any other opinions??

I think you have a chance, but work reallly hard and get great grades on your mid-year exams and have your school seem them asap to NYU. If your grades are going up, that is a good sign.
