This isn't a chances thread. I'm just in the final stages of narrowing down my list of colleges to apply to, and I was just wondering if anyone had any final suggestions to give and/or comments to make based off of my current list. If the list seems at all weird, it's probably because 1. I'm weird, and 2. The schools I'm interested in had to have particular requirements in terms of their theatre programs.

Brown
Yale
Northwestern
Vassar
Williams
Reed

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking my list may be too short considering the competitive nature of all the aforementioned schools.

You need a safety.

what's wrong with them??
They are good.
As far as i know the safty of Brown is good. Yale is good too (my house is Yale property!)
and er.... idk the rest. :P

Wow, aside from theatre programs, you picked schools with ver high academic standard. Not to scare, but I just want to make sure you know about Reed academics before you went their. Reed may have the most strenuous academics in the country, including mandatory thesis and the hardest freshmen seminar imaginable.

It was just a red flag for me when you said theatre that you may not understand the depth of the academics.

I don't know about your stats, but all schools on that list but Reed (match) are generally considered reaches. If your looking for theater safeties, try:

Drew University
SUNY Purchase
Syracuse University
Wagner College (Good if you're trying to get to Broadway, that's where most of this school is bound)
Savannah College of Art and Design (if your into directing, best production program in country)
Boston University(though not a safety, definitely worth looking at for well-rounded university w/ good theater)

Oh no I am definitely aware of the academic rigor of each of the schools I've listed. That was actually one of the criterion for my college selection as well. I'm not just looking for theatre; it's just one of my must-haves in addition to other things.

Thank you for the other suggestions.
