I heard the instructor for econ 101A is good. hard but good. Review your calculus (optimization, lagrange) before hand!

I will be in registering for that course, too.

That is all i can say.

Tough.

CS 61B is a giant weeder. Lots of tedious projects and homework assignments, and a lot of material taught at an exceedingly rapid pace.

I'm taking Math 55 right now, and find it to be more difficult than Math 53 and 54. It could vary depending on the professor, though.

EE 42 is like a toned-down version of EE 40, which I'm taking right now. EE 40 is a weeder like CS 61B.

So four techs and one language class. Expect to be studying every waking hour, especially as finals approach. Don't say I didn't warn you.

hmm.. dam.. i was thinking/hoping that CS 70 and EE42 would be significantly easier than Math55 and EE40... well, i guess i'll see how things go and then drop one if i feel i need to

CS 70 and Math 55 are basically the same course.

EE 42 is definitely less in-depth than EE 40.

Plus Chinese is 5 units...that's going to take up a nice chunk of your time.

o. I'm taking Chinese 10BX, which is 3 units.. and I'm mainly taking it for fun and to improve my Chinese... might P/NP it

Oh gotcha. I thought all foreign language courses are 5 units. My mistake.

avoid math 55

IMO, everything Student said was extremely overexaggerated. CS70 is easy, EE42 is easy, CS61B is a lot of work but not hard otherwise. I would say drop just one class (five is a lot--doable if you have the time, but not fun), but otherwise you should be fine.

Sure, you're entitled to your opinion, but I hope others are aware that you're one of the top students in EECS.

I'm pretty sure my comments are more reflective of the "majority opinion." Look at the ratings on hkn.eecs. Weeders like CS 61B always get ratings of 3.5-5.0 out of 5 under "the pace of this course is too fast" and "workload in this class is heavier than other courses of comparable credit" regardless of professor.

I'll give you that 61B is a lot of work--it's a class that is meant to get you to code a lot. Conceptually, though, there isn't much in that class that is "hard". I'll admit this is purely my opinion and I certainly concur you might be right that the common opinion isn't shared with mine, but I still believe this statement is extremely exaggerated:
