I had a couple of friends who said they applied to NU and got in. They rejected the school though because they didn't get enough financial aid. NU offered them $20K a year and tuition with room and board is close to $40k a year. Does anyone know how good they are with financial aid? It's the one school I really want to go to and I don't want to let the money stop me from going but I also don't want to pay like $80K in student loans after 4 years assuming I get the same kind of financial aid they got. Anyone familiar?

Northwestern's FA is need based so your FA is going to depend on the income and assets of you and your family. The school determines your financial need which is where the disconnect often comes into play because families will say while they make "X" $ on paper, they do not have it available to spend.

I would recommend using one of the FA calculators so that you have some idea of how much a Northwestern education is going to cost your family out of pocket. Your demonstrated need package willbe a combination of work study, scholarships/grants and loans.

It's Northeastern, not Northwestern.

In any even though where would I find the FA calculator and how do I use it?
