if i read American Pageant, is it basically the same as Amsco. What does Amsco offer that American Pageant doesn't?

Well, the most obvious difference is that the American Pageant is a textbook, whereas AMSCO is a review book. If you have the time to read the Pageant, then go for it, but you should probably read AMSCO which is a more condensed version.

Alrighty, thanks alot

American Pageant - a great source of information that can help you well in the essay, but it has one flaw: superfluous yet unnecessary information fluffed with metaphors.

AMSCO - a mini-American Pageant, but the amount of information is above minimum for the AP Exam. It prepares you well better for the MC than it does for FR. However, information should be sufficient to allow you do well on the FR.

Which can garuntee a five tho?

Nothing can guarantee a 5. If you get through it all, American Pageant will give you a better chance at a 5, but realistically, you probably won’t, so I would go with AMSCO

I would go with AMSCO. I’ve used both and AMSCO is very concise and has only the information that you need to know for the exam. It covers the MC pretty well, and it also has nice guides to help you with the DBQ and Free-response essays. American Pageant tends to go into extraneous details and unnecessary info that won’t help you on the exam. But that’s just my opinion…

You should read both. Textbook facts will help you out for the essay.

I personally think that reading the American Pageant would be too late, unless APUSH is the OP’s only AP exam this year.

^Totally agree with jerry4455. With just two weeks till the test I would go with a combination of Amsco and Crash Course. Amsco is really a condensed Pageant. And in some respect, Crash Course is a condensed Amsco. That is important as the test date gets closer. In addition, Crash Course has very valuable chapters on Key Terms, Key Literary works, African American history, Women’s history, Labor unions, and Supreme Court cases that are presented in a nice neat package. So all in all Amsco for a more detailed digest and Crash Course for an efficient presentation of the facts.
