How's the BIM major?

I was recently accepted at UCI's Business Information Management major. Does anyone know much about this major, such as class sizes, recruitment possibilities (such as from the Big 4!), required courses, etc? I really like this school, but am having a little trouble selecting just one school to attend. ANY and ALL information will be welcomed!!

Also, any comments about UCI in general would also help!

Bump bump bump!

Hey I’m in the BIM major right now. The BIM major consists of mainly business classes but also some programming classes. So not only do you have a business background, but you also have a technical background. The programming classes, in my opinion, aren’t too bad, but it’s only my first year attending UCI. If you want to get recruited into the Big 4, you would be trying to get a job in Advisory, since that job field utilizes the technical background that is obtained by the BIM major. Advisory positions are quite unique, since there are only a handful of people that have a business and technical background. The main recruiter from the Big 4 in UCI is Deloitte, but PwC also recruits a good number of students from UCI.
You can also apply for the accounting minor, if you want to get more of an auditing job in the Big 4. The GPA needed to get into the accounting minor is fairly high, probably around 3.6-3.7. I got in the accounting minor with a 3.71. Overall, I think this major is a very well rounded major as it gives you the background in business and technology giving uniqueness to your resume.
Hope this helps!

Wow! That was really helpful!! I just have a few questions. How hard are classes? And how high math do you need or is recommended?

I don’t think the classes are that hard but its only my first year. The programming classes that I am taking are not too bad. A lot of people complain about the intro economics and accounting classes, which I haven’t taken since I took them in community college during my senior year. I have gotten A’s in them so far. The math that you will go up to in BIM is Calculus B/C and Linear Algebra (matrices). You also have to take Stats.
