How is UC? I was thinking about attending the school-it seems like a great place. So how are the academics, and more importantly, how are the students and falculty? The food? The campus? Are there things to do in town, or is the experience completely centered around campus?

We visited last April, and the town itself (Collegeville) does not seem to be a hotbed of activity and entertainment. My guess is that most fun activities are either on campus or involve a trip in to Philadelphia, which is not that far away.

My son and I visited in September. Nice, small campus with some very nice new buildings. The cafeteria was big and modern and the coffee/late hours dining option was beautiful. The new fitness center is stunning. The library is in need of a major renovation. The campus has a more wide-open feel to it then some other places -- there are trees, but I would not call it bucolic. It does not present as a classic northeast liberal arts campus, but it is nice nonetheless.

The area around it is a nice middle class neighborhood. There is a shopping center you can probably walk to in 10-15 minutes, but it is not a college feel type of area. It is nice suburban. The school appears to have a very good acadmic reputation, although most people have never heard of it outside of the Philadelphia area. We are from the NYC area and virtually no one I met had ever heard of it, which may not be at all important.

Overall, we liked it but it was not at the top of my son's list. He was just admitted ED to Union College and will be attending there in the fall of 2007.
