How's the social life at Case?

I'm trying to decide between University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Tulane, CWRU, and OSU. I plan to double major in Biology(micro/neuro?) and Economics. I'm from ohio and Case is about an hour away, which is not really a good thing. Here's my previous post on my financial issues:

How's the social life at case? I went to an over-night stay and I wasn't particularly impressed, but that could depend on ur host. My hosts told me that most of the people at Case are introverts and its kinda hard to get dates. Most students, it seems, are extremely focused on studies. There is also the other fact that more than 60% of last year's incoming class were from Ohio. Although, I've heard that Case's social scene is improving, but what do you think?

Thanks

The students that my son knows are having a great time at Case. While it is true that some of the kids actually sit in their dorm rooms playing computer games all the time (I assume after they have studied) most of the students know how to have a good time. Look at the other posts under Case Western Reserve University because this has been discussed before.

We live about 30 minutes away from the college and we look at it as a good thing (easy to come home [probably won't much tho anyhow], won't need a car for his 5 years there [savings!], knows the area quite well so he will know where to go outside the college campus for fun experiences).

Remember, college is what you make of it! Good luck with your decision.

I'm a frosh, and we're definetely not a party school if that's what you are looking for. It is true that you will never see a sizeable amount of the people on campus because of the comp game lure, but I think the rest of the population certainly makes up for it! I've never felt like I couldn't make friends here, but then it helps that I'm a nerd. It's also pretty easy to get off campus and go places thanks to that RTA pass!
We have frats but they're either a. community service frats or b. places people underage go to get drunk. About a third of the campus has Greek affiliations.
As for living an hour away, don't worry about it because it's far enough away that your 'rents are not going to drop in on you every single day. I'd think of it more as a convenience because if you go home for the weekend it doesn't take that long and you CAN go home for the weekend should you need to.
Good luck with your descision!

So what do Case kids do on a regular weekend? I'm going in August, while I do party/drink, I dont plan to do that all of college, so I'm just curious what you guys do on weekends for fun and stuff. Museums don't really interest me much, any like cool **** to do in Cleveland?

Hi! I am a student at Case and can assure you that if you want to do something, you will find something to do. The campus buses, called "Greenies", can take you all around campus as well as to Coventry, a cool little village with lots of great restaurants & shops. In addition, we have RTA passes which literally take you all over Cleveland. And you don't even have to leave campus, since we are right next door to the University Circle institutions, such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance Hall (where the Cleveland Orchestra plays), Botanical Gardens, etc., and many of these institutions are free with a Case ID.

Personally, I spend my weekends trying to catch up with schoolwork during the day, then going out at night. Usually, a campus organization sponsors events (charity competitions, dances, outdoor movies, etc.) and then my friends and I will go to a party at an apartment/frat house.

I don't find myself leaving campus too often, but when I want to, there are plenty of places to go and things to do--for example, shopping in Legacy Village and stopping for dessert at the Cheesecake Factory, going to see a concert at the Grog Shop in Coventry, going clubbing downtown. And while Case definitely isn't a party school, I think there are definitely enough opportunities to release stress and just have fun :-)
