I’ve read some comments in the Campus Visits section that suggest that the surrounding area isn’t so great. Any details?

it’s not. but i’ve lived in Los Angeles and Phoenix, so I’m used to a huge, diverse, overwhelming sort of city…what city are you from, just for comparison purposes?

I live in a city of 20,000 now, but I grew up in the D.C. suburbs.

ok well it’s not like living in a suburb, because there’s really nothing surrounding Tucson (unless you count the Mexican border). i wouldn’t say it’s an unsafe city, but it’s not very exciting. however, there’s really no need to leave the campus. you have everything you need at the U of A - it is a fabulous college campus. there’s tons of places to shop and eat right there on campus.

Certain parts of town are worse than others for sure. Immediately around campus its relatively safe and there’s generally cops everywhere.
