How's the vibe at UCSB?

I just got admitted into UCSB and was wondering how the vibe is at the school. I hear that a lot of rich kids go there so I’m wondering if many students are rude or feel as if they are too good to talk to some people. And if someone has attended or is attending UCSB how was your first year and how was the feel of the campus?

Congratulations on your acceptance! UCSB has one of the greatest vibe out of all the UCs  it is rated the #1 happiest UC campus and in the top 5 for happiest campuses in the nation. If you are looking for a college experience, UCSB is definitely the school to attend. Honestly, UCSB has some of the nicest people I’ve ever met! The people at Spring Insight were so welcoming! With such a relaxed atmosphere, it’s expected to find a content student population. I can’t say much about the rich kid rumor, but UCSB ranks 3rd out of the UC campuses that do the most for low-income students according to this study:

The vibe there is very friendly. About 40% of the kids are the first generation in their family to go to college, so I would not say there is a predominance of rich kids.

Everyone is extremely friendly. Trust me, there are not a lot of “rich kids” - in fact, “rich kids” are looked down upon. Lots of first generation college students, very common to have a job, very common to have student loans.
