Hows these ecs? How good/bad?

8 years saxophone
6 years guitar
5 years piano
10 years 2nd degree black belt
13 years soccer: 4 developmental, 5 club, 2highschool, 2 varsity
4 years debate

tips to improve?

You definitely show dedication toward musical instruments, which is good… The only thing to brush up on would be some volunteering and/or leadership in clubs or teams

It’a good that you show consistency in all of them.
Perhaps you could try giving music lessons to younger students.
Or join a musical ensemble at your school?

I think the two things in which you’re most lacking are leadership and community.

Leadership: Try to make captain of the varsity soccer team next year or head of the debate team, or start and run your own club, band, etc.

Community: Colleges want to see you contributing to the world around you. Practicing music alone in your room is very isolating–are you part of a school ensemble? Are you and your friends in a garage band? Anything at all? If not, try to join / form one this year.

Good luck! :)

Thank you
and more answers are welcome and
I wanted to not be very specific just my main hobbies because im actually a freshman and if I continue my activities how I plan to this will be a round about description of my senior year

1) what you do based on your own interests or future (major or life) plans. 2) what you do for your “group” (within the hs, cultural id group or religious group, etc) and 3) what you do for your community- because you see a need and are willing to do your part. (Maybe you can call this me-us-them.)

Many colleges don’t care so much about your ECs. In case you might apply to a highly competitive, the above guideline can’t hurt. But remember, it’s not just about participating. And, starting a club sounds better than it often is.
