Here is my plan and please tell me if it is a good plan for college. I want to major in strategic communications at university of Missouri in the top journalism school in the country. I will then do a five year BJ/MA degree where I get my masters. I would want to be something like an account manager out of college. I hate math so I don't want to do undergrad business or engineering. Would it be a good idea to do this? I may also major in emerging media convergence journalism, or possible a minor in some form of liberal arts. how is this plan parents? Good?

Possible yes, but not most likely to be an account with a journalism degree. Maybe you should not declare a major yet.

What kind of account manager, for a PR firm or for a media (print, tv, website) company, corporate communications? Don’t you need great soft skills to be an account manager (and maybe even a low handicap golf player)?
Article just last week in NYT on how print media ad sales revenues are plummeting.
At this exact point in time, proven experience and quantifiable results with social media like number of followers, and search engine optimization, are key skills. This of course will not be the case in 5 years.
Please elaborate on your career goals and maybe some parent who works in that field will chime in.
