How's this sound?

Well rounded?

(Safeties) - DePaul University, Augustana College (IL)
(Matches) - Knox College, University of Illinois - Urbana, Boston University
(Reaches) - University of Chicago, Macalester College

3.44 GPA, Top 25%, 28 ACT (31 English, 29 Math, 26 Reading, 24 Science, 11 essay)

I'm very involved at my school. EIC of paper [entertainment editor jr year, reporter soph yr], Senior Class Treasurer, Yearbook editor, lots of community service, had a job my soph year, Student Council, literary magazine, Presidents' Forum, and a few more. I was awarded Quill and Scroll at the end of last year and just got my NHS acceptance letter last week.

I've also had a very strong upward trend (3.95 GPA or something equally ridiculous junior year up from a 3.2 frosh/soph year).

I have teachers who know me well writing my recommendations and I also have some very personal essays which I think are my strong point.

Anyway- the $10 question- is it a balanced list and are my safeties/matches/reaches accurately placed? Should I be looking to add more safeties/matches?

I've heard from some people that Boston and U of I are reaches for me - does this mean that Macalester and UChicago are super reaches and that I should be looking for more matches?

Her name was Lola.
She was a showgirl.

...La, la, la.

Anyone? Anyone?

From what I know of Chicago, I don't think that is a realistic possibility for you. Your matches should be considered slight reaches, yet I could imagine that at least one of them would accept you. Other than that, I've got no more advice.
