Let's gather together again!

Hey for the EC list on the app, it says "SCHOOL ACTIVITIES". Does that mean we can't list activities outside of school-sponsored ones (internships, volunteer work, etc.) Also, I wanted to write my "most important extracurricular" essay about my Congressional internship. Let me know!

Err - umm.. I think you can, just activities that you took part in while in school, I guess..

Most of my ECs listed in that category were in school, so no bother for me.

I also sent my resume (before my Part II, DOH!) describing some of my better activities and full length descriptions. It's formatted in the style of a real resume. :/

Question: On the "Indicate any special talents or skills you possess" section, what is everyone putting? Are you writing paragraph or bullet points of things not covered in the e/c part? My daughter is struggling with this section and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I am listing just a rough sketch of skills, administration, logistics, etc., don't know what else.

What is the difference between the two activity sections? Should you not list what you have in one in the other?

I'm gonna send my pre-app one of these days. . .heh

Hey y'all. I sent in form 1 in the mail the other day. I still have not heard from GTown but I hope to soon. I'll send in the rest once SAT scores become available. Are you all going EA? I'm doing RD, I still have to visit over Thanksgiving and all.

Yay! The Hopeful Hoyas are reborn! LOL!

I have a quick question: if I just took my SAT IIs last saturday, and I chose to send those scores directly to Georgetown, then will Georgetown also see a full report of all my socres? Or will they just see those recent SAT II scores?

PS- I don't really like the new forum layout.

Georgetown will see and input ALL your scores. The score report includes SAT II and SAT I.

I don't think you have a problem though, with your SAT scores Calidan. :P

You think we will be two of the three hundred or so accepted into Georgetown from California every year? Hopefulleee.. :-D

Hey guys! Whats up from sunny Texas? Just thought you guys could share some thoughts about my essay on school activities. I wrote about my founding of Young Democrats to give voice to those who did not have one. Keep in mind location and struggle to form a club like this(EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE).Do you think this will bode well on Georgetown? Is anyone doing ROTC at Georgetown(if we get accepted)?

weird new forum. what's up guys?

i sent in my preapp last week and haven't heard from a rep. should i be concerned?

i thought about sending in a music tape, but even though I love singing, i'm not exactly brave singing alone. should i do it anyway? i've been in choir since i was like 7.

poor babybird, already rejected.

Hey, that's funny, you and me are like polar opposites.. (to the poster above Babybird, ROTCCOC)

I founded Young Republicans in an extremely LIBERAL situation (California) and you founded young democrats in an extremely conservative situation..

Say, what provoked an interest in ROTC for you? Are you in Army HS ROTC now? If you are, what rank/position?

Hey all--I'm Josh, G-town '09 hopeful.

Anyone here applying to SFS? I'm applying EA and trying to nail out my essays as we speak.

Has anyone had their alum interview yet? I should be having mine within the week (still waiting on exact date from alum). Doesn't sound too daunting, but it couldn't hurt to hear from those who have already gone through it.

ROTCCOC: I'm planning on doing either Army ROTC at Georgetown or Air Force ROTC cross-town at Howard. Depends on which branch is willing to give me a scholarship. :)

By the way, I'm currently in Air Force JROTC with the rank of Lt. Col.

i'm waiting on interviewer information...I'm getting nervous about not receiving it yet...you know, wondering whether the Part I even got to them, whether it's lost, etc.

I hated doing the essays, they were awful.

tlaktan-

I think founding any worthwhile new organization is going to look impressive on the application.

Good luck!

I'm currently a C/COL (Cadet Colonel) and the Battalion (and District) Commander. Army JROTC. I have been Battalion Commander for 2 years.

I'm applying to the SFS EA also...

I just have to finish up my Part II, fix my crappy essay, and write my global conflicts and then I'll be set..haha.

The alumni interview was not a problem, but I also don't think it helps that much...

December 15th just seems sooooooo far away...I'm going to eat my nails off the entire time. You guys have such cool extra currics..ahh! I hope we all get in.

Oh yes. Dean Gallucci is spying on us right now, looking to find prospective GU SFS students. :-P

So is Dean Deacon. :-P

Tlaktan, I don't THINK that were going to be 2 0f the 300ish Californians accepted to Georgetown, I KNOW that were going to be. :P

It's too bad that December 15th seems so far away while November 1st seems so close. I'd much rather have the application deadline seem far away and the notification date seem soon!

PS- I have my interview this monday! I'm nervous but excited! She's currently at UC Berkeley getting her master's degree (I'm not sure in what). Any tips?
