HP Business vs. Lenovo Thinkpads

Hi,

I'll be majoring in engineering at Berkeley next year. Which is better/more solid? I know to go with the "business" laptops because my dad's laptop from work was a Thinkpad and now it is a HP Business kind. They are both solid and nice as hell, and my sister in college has a Dell "consume" laptop which is a P.O.S. and it has terrible quality construction. Thinkpad's seem to be more established but HP Business ones are very nice and solid. My dad doesn't have the Thinkpad anymore because his company switched to HP after Lenovo took over the Thinkpads from IBM. What do you guys think?

I have never owned a pre-2005 IBM ThinkPad, so my experience with ThinkPads is limited to Lenovo ThinkPads. I bought my R61 in July 2007. In March 2008, I did something that required me to send my laptop to the service depot. I asked for a box on Monday, got it and shipped it out on Wednesday, and got my laptop back on Friday with the problem resolved. I was immensely satisfied with both the IBM / Lenovo technicians as well as the DHL couriers.
