Hp pavilion laptop

Hey I'm not getting any responses on the computer forum so I'm asking here. I'm looking at an HP pavilion g4t 14" notebook for college.
Its got an i3, 4 gb ram, and 500 gb hard drive. Just wondering if you have any experiences with an HP pavilion and what you think.
I'm also looking at a Dell inspiron 14r, if you have used that please comment on how it worked and which one you think is better for generic college student. Streaming music, surfing web, and watching youtube.

I think mine is the 14r, bought it for $630 about 6 months ago. They’d both be good as long as you plan on keeping it simple (music, movies, web).

And not worth more than 650.

Don’t buy an HP or a Dell. They have quality control issues. Get a Lenovo.

It’s a little out of date, but this might be worth looking at.

Personally, I’ve had very good experiences with HP. I have had this HP Pavilion laptop for almost 4 years now and it’s running fine. Before that, I had a desktop for 4 or 5 years. My father has had his desktop for 6 years and my sister has had her laptop for 3 years. We’re all pretty satisfied.

Then again, I never dealt with Lenovo, so I don’t know how it compares.

Our “computer guy” recommended a Lenovo for our son, and it’s been great except when the hinges broke. My BIL had a friend who fixed it for him (for a price) before I realized what was going on. I’m not sure how Lenovo would have responded - I probably should have called to ask. The laptop was probably 15 months old at that point.
