Yeah, I know Teddy was kissing Victoire, but just she was going to Hogwarts? Like I said, I guess I missed that.

Well, James said he asked Teddy what he was doing (kids...kissing,duh), and Teddy said he'd come to see her off. p.756

Yep, missed that the first time. Thanks.

Epilogue was disappointing, with the lack of references to what happened to everyone else (other than those mentioned). Like did Kingsley stay as permanent Minister of Magic?

I personally enjoyed their little camping expedition, and although they didn't really do much during this period, (other than the occasional run in with Death Eaters/Voldemort) it seemed like Rowling endeavored to develop her characters before the world came crashing down in that brilliant battle.

It was quite surprising at how quickly time passed without Hogwarts to keep us aware, like it was snowing one night and soon it was Easter break already.
They better make the movie good. There's so much great stuff that they can put in there, I mean just picturing the breakout at Gringotts, or the battle at Hogwarts/epic duel. Wow.

am i like the only person who found it kind of..mediocre?

and the ending was super cheesy. wow.

^yeah it was cheesy but i think rowling had a lot of pressure to have a super happy ending. i expected a cheesy ended. it would have better if i hadnt been corrupted by fanfiction that i used to read obessively when i was younger, which is chalk full of cheesy garbage.

i quite liked the book though. i think it finished off in a really good, fulfilling way. theres not a lot of ways to have ended it anyway, so a happy one is nice. you dont get 100% fairy tale happy endings anymore in stories, so it was nice. but when i thought harry was on his death march, i was freaking bawling. i think i woke my dad up cos i was crying so hard, hahaha.

but yeah, i wasnt expecting some fantastic mind blowing ending. i think that was a perfect ending to the books.

Yeah, I liked it too! It was really different from the others (seeing as how they didn't really return to Hogwarts--for schooling) and I think it's my favorite book@

Harry's wand DOES NOT kill hedwig some death eater does
Elder wand---->draco is its true master from whom harry steals it in the malfoy manor

What was that baby-like thing that is with Harry and Dumbledore after Harry has "died"? I reread it but I couldn't figure it out.

it was voldy

Does anyone have any links to spoilers that were just totally wrong? I remember seeing one that said Ron dies.

All of these spoilers are wrong. Here's what really happened during the final battle:

Voldemort transforms Harry into a lavender tea cup. The tea cup shatters when it hits the ground, hits Voldemort in the face, and blinds him. Voldemort tries to kill Ron, but, being blind, doesn't realize that he is actually pointing his wand at himself. He then dies.
Meanwhile, Hermione is on her own mission to find the Lost Jewelry Box of Severus Snape. Hermione then learns that Snape is actually Aunt Petunia (and a woman). Hermione realizes that THAT is why Snape hates Harry- because she had to do all of Harry's laundry when he was a child. Hermione takes the most beautiful necklace from the jewelry box and brings them to Snape, and bribes her. Snape agrees to put her degree in pottery to good use, and fixes Harry.
Hermione, Ron, and Snape all agree in the fact that Harry is a beautiful teacup, and decide not to turn him back into a human. They then begin to quarrel about who gets to use him during tea parties (Ron points out that teacup-Harry saved his life, Snape brings up her pottery skillz, and Hermione argues that it was because of her that Snape even saved Harry). During this fight, Kreacher sneaks out, steals Harry, and hides him in his "home."
Three thousand billion quadraquillion years pass.
The ghost of Dumbledore finally tracks Harry down. He possesses a plastic Market Basket bag and manages to transform Harry back into himself. Harry is very confused and has lost the ability to talk during those three thousand billion quadraquillion years. Frustrated, Dumbledore places Harry within a cage and charges tourists eight hundred Euros for the chance to see the Boy Who Lived. Dumbledore becomes the richest Market Basket bag of all time.

The End.

Seriously. Ignore all these other "spoilers." That's what really happened.

i saw that ron dies one
it said that bellatrix killed him lol

^My friend sent me an email saying that Bellatrix kills Ron before the book came out. I'm sooooooo glad it wasn't true. I was so ****ed when I got that email. I really didn't want to see any spoilers.

The 7th movie better be like 5 hours long. I'd totally watch it too. I'd rather have it be really long and follow the plot than normal length and completely different than the book. If its normal length, they couldn't possibly cover all of the important things in the book and it would just suck. lol

wikipedia has lots of spoilers

I saw the bellatrix-ron thing too. I spent the whole book waiting for ron to die, so I was a bit annoyed when he didn't.

Ok, first off the baby was what was left of Voldemort's soul inside Harry. It was a representation of what he would become without feeling remorse in death. This is why Harry says, "I've seen what you will become".

The elder wand thing works in the following. A wand first chooses its wizard, however, if the wizard has his wand taken from him then the wand may choose to follow a new master and adapt to his powers. The following occured on top of the astronomy tower in HBP:

Draco disarms Dumbledore, something which, because Dumbledore was exceptionally powerful, caused Malfoy to gain control of the wand BECAUSE he disarmed such a powerful wizard. At this point, the wand was in his control, and Dumbledore was soon to die. Because Malfoy disarmed him, Dumbledore's plan for snape to have the Elder wand failed because he wasn't in possession of the wand when he died, it was Malfoy's at that moment. When Harry TOOK (as in physically grabbed) the wands from Malfoy's hands, the wands power transfered ownership. Because malfoy was supposed to own the elder wand the wand recognized Harry when it was finally revealed.

I actually liked the Epilogue, as the story was about Harry Potter, not the wizarding world. Also, it was already described how they recovered LAST time, they had a big ass party and then just went through rebuilding, its the same way any government recovers after a fall. Although it would've been cool to know everyone elses life, i think she was trying to avoid making it tooo cheesy.

Also, make certain you realize the wilderness scenes weren't just for character development, but to immerse you in the characters emotions. She wanted you to experience Harry's anger and frustration at Dumbledore for being left with such a burdensome task, and I'm sure alot of you during the book, just as I did, had began to doubt Dumbledore's genius at times and at some points were downright angry at him. She also wanted you to understand Ron's point of view of being "led" to the middle of nowhere for months on end without getting things accomplished.

I have more to comment but that's just the beginning. Personally this was my favorite one followed by probably 3 6 then 5 or something like that.

After this book though my top five characters are:
Dumbledore for his new character development
Voldemort for being such a dynamic yet sinister villian.
Severus for being so cunning yet loyal in the end.
Harry for learning Occlumency (finally), and finally maturing into a man. Digging dobby's grave with his hands and writing "Here lies Dobby, a free elf" well forever be emblazoned into my memory.
And Ron, for sticking through till the end and even diving into that lake for him. Oh and for finally getting his girl

When did harry learn occlumency?

LOL LesOs.

Snape & Dumbledore are my favorite characters by far.

Someone earlier mentioned that they wanted to know what Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the gang do for job and how the wizarding world copes. According to J.K. Rowling in a Meredith V. interview, she said that Harry and Ron "utterly revolutionize" the auror department and that Hermione is pretty "high up" in the ministry as well. I'm assuming everyone dealt with Voldemort's death. After all, the end is just very joyous, and even Malfoy is there.
As far as the ending, I have to say that when I first read it I felt upset. I guess I expected it to be super eventful and devastating, but as much as I'm complaining now, I would have been hurdling rocks if I found out she killed Harry.

Oh, here's a link to the Today show's Harry Potter page. It has J.K. Rowling speaking of the character's futures, why she refuses to write a sequel with Harry as the main character, etc:
