hey fellow northwestern hopefuls/current nu students!

I just have a couple of quick questions about HPME. If I apply to this program (planning on mccormick + feinberg) and get rejected, can I still be considered for regular decision mccormick?
In addition, what is the difficulty of getting accepted into this program, and what is the rigor/workload of this program like?

Yes, you are considered for acceptance to Northwestern independently of the HPME process. It’s a very selective program (~2000 applicants, 200 interviews, ~30 acceptances). I’ll let someone else answer the rigor/workload section of your question.

HPME workload varies. If you’re doing the regular Weinberg or Communications route, it’s pretty much just the same workload as all the other Weinberg students. For the Biomedical Engineering route, if you take Medical Engineering, it’s slightly less than a full engineering major, but if you take the full ABET-approved BME route, the course load goes up dramatically and you’ll almost certainly need 4 years for this route. It’s really what you choose to do though, and you’ll have plenty of time to decide that once you get here.
