I am going to apply to the HPME this year but am a little confused on a few things.

1) How can I get a copy of the new HPME request card? The one on the website is for the old SAT.

2) Is the HPME request card taken on a first come-first serve basis? Meaning teh earlier I get my card in, the better chance I have of getting an HPME app?

3) I haven't taken the Chemistry SAT II yet, but will take November along with a retake of Math IIC. On the card, should I write "will retake in November" next to my current IIC score? Should this affect my being able to send in a card?

4) What teacher recs are required for HPME? This is assuming i get the application, of course, but are there any specific requirements?

1) I believe there's an HPME card included in the regular paper app if you request one.
2) No, the card is not first come-first serve. However, it is of course better to get it in as soon as possible so you can start working on your HPME app.
3) I'm not sure about this one. You should probably write "will retake" though, just to let them know.
4) I forgot so I don't want to give you the wrong info...but I THINK it's English, Science, and counselor rec. Those seem pretty standard, nothing too specific.

Um regarding number 2, if it's not based on first come first serve, then wouldn't I get hte HPME app (assuming my stats are good enough) at the same time as everyone else and not earlier?

there's a difference between "first come first serve" and "better chance of getting an app if submitted early"

in other words

YES, you get the app earlier if you submit the card earlier. BUT submitting your card earlier doesn't INCREASE your chances of getting a card. they send out the card to whoever meets the criteria, whether they submit the card early or late.

I have another question. First these are my stats:
2250 SAT (May one sitting)
780 Math
760 Critical Reading
710 Writing

730 Math IIC
730 US History

Rank: 14/379
Top 4% of class

Would these be good enough to get an app? BTW I know I don't have a Chem SAT II yet.

I am retaking the SAT next Saturday and taking Chem SAT II and retaking Math IIC in November and possibly December for a retake for Chem.
Would it behoove me to turn my card in right now anyways so that I can get the application as early as possible? Because the card says "Do not wait until your SAT II scores from December come in. Send after you get your SAT I scores" or something like that.

hmm tough to say, but your scores seem to be roughly in the 50% percentile of the HPME students this year (at least that's the general sense I'm getting from asking around)....so you should get an app.
