HS alma maters of incoming college class

Hi--I have searched on CC for this answer, and haven't found anything conclusive. My question:

I am curious which high schools in my area send the most kids to which colleges. (Am trying to help choose a high school for my kid.) Any ideas where this information might be found in a consolidated way? Or do I just need to search school by school and hope to find something?

Thank you for any ideas!

squeakywheel,

If you contact the specific high schools, they will be happy to tell you where their students are accepted each year. In my school district, they post it right on the high school websites. What they may not be able to tell you, is where their students actually decide to attend. Remember that of the 10 students accepted to College A, 9 may decide to attend Colleges B through J for any number of reasons. Chances are that some of them will also decide not to attend College A in order to enlist in the military, or pursue other interests immediately after high school.

Call each high school and ask for the current School Profile–the Guidance Office should be able to rpoduce one for you–there may also be a link of a pdf. online…

This should list the avg test scores and where the kids are accepted, and where they attend, as well as things like AP scores, # of APs taken etc.

A valuable stat is the AP stat–you don’t want to just see lots of tests taken–you want to see 4s and 5s…how many are passing those AP test.

Hope that helps

Many thanks! This info is exactly what I needed. :)
