HS Courseload Q

I'm planning ahead for my senior year schedule, and I'd like some input. I had originally planned on taking 4 years of band, since otherwise I can't audition for All-State Band (which I love). However, due to school requirements, if I take band next year I'll have to drop history. My schedule over four years, as a prospective English/CS double major looking at LACs:

5 years English (including both AP Lit and Lang)
4 years French (ending at AP French Lang)
4 years math (AP Calc AB + AP Stats, no BC)
5.5 years science (required by my school; AP CompSci but no hard science APs)
*1 year SS + 2 years history
*4 years band
+1 year gym, .5 driver's ed, .5 tech, .5 health

Essentially, I can either take band or take history--not both. Despite being humanities-oriented, I'm not fond of history/social sciences and I have to really work at it; I would probably take either AP Psych or AP World. Music is an important part of my life, but not my passion (that would be language), and I plan to play casually in college but will not make any commitments on the application.

Thoughts? Will the lack of history hurt me at LACs? What would you do, in my place?

you should be set.

I think you are fine

Stay in band, history can wait until college.

I recommend the full four years of band as well.

Thanks--it's great to hear such unanimous consensus, as I love band (well, All-State; let's not comment on the school band) but I was beginning to question whether I should try to play toward college admissions.

Why? So you can be unhappy for 9 months, to maybe impress someone who could reject you anyways?

Stick with what you love. Be happier.
