HS Fresh: Cybersecurity / Comp Sci

My high school offers no AP Comp Sci and usual computer courses other than the class I’m taking which is “Intro to Business Technology” which hardly is a course.

I am self studying COMPTIA’s Security+, looking at Cybrary, and also participating in FBLA’s Cyber-security competition (going to move to state round after winning 1st in District.) Have not gotten into learning how to code as of yet, due to my competition being next month.

I’ve been looking for companies around the area for a chance to job shadow, volunteer, or even intern but to no avail. Even poking around online communities I can’t seem to find a place to integrate myself into and really learn. I am aware of summer programs for this notably Gencyber, but the info on 2017 camps aren’t out yet.

Thanks.
