HS GPA shot

So basically my HS GPA is ****ed. There really is no other way around it and I'm not even going to go into the reasons why was so low but I finished with a 2.0. (Embarrassing) and ranked 220/320.

However, essentially it all came down to me not applying myself during my freshman and sophomore year. I got into I think 12 AP classes and wound up taking a couple freshman year until I started suffering from a couple neurological disorders, so I had to be home schooled (by the school, technically, they offered it) and I was able to do very well senior year.

I'm currently at a CC and it's honestly a complete joke. I can see myself getting an associates degree and winding up with close to, if not a straight 4.0.

So:

I would like to at least have a decent shot at Cornell CAS. That is my top choice.

What should I do? Should I retake the SAT's? (1710 was my score)

I didn't have many HS EC's. I did a lot of volunteer work though.

Any advice would help....

I really want to do this.

If you are going to transfer, pick other colleges other than Cornell

I graduated with a 2.8, went to CC for two years and got a 3.5, and transferred to Michigan. I’d apply to some easier schools too but you might stand a chance, your high school grades don’t matter nearly as much when you have two years of CC under your belt.

I’m also looking at these:

Penn State-Univ. Park
Ohio State-Columbus
University of Kentucky
University of Maryland-CP

Would I stand a chance at those?

I know I’m probably in at Kentucky and only have to go 1 year at the CC but idk about Kentucky to be honest. I’ll get a lot more of the college experience but I don’t like it out there.

PSU and UMCP tickle my fancy a lot more.

We’ve seen students with a 1.8 high school GPA, get a 4.0 at community college, and then make it to Cornell. Its about improving as you go forward.

There are colleges out there that don’t require standardized test scores and/ or high school grades if you have a certain number of college credits. These schools tend to be publics. Retaking the SAT will probably help you. Note that Cornell’s transfer rate is deceptive because the transfer rate includes guaranteed transfers.
