Okay so I am a junior in high school and I am freaking out. My grades are terrible, I currently have a 3.35 GPA. My freshman year I had a 3.7 and my sophomore year I totally tanked and somehow finished the year with a 3.1. This year i’m trying to improve but i’m not having any luck. I’m taking 3 AP classes this year (us history, lang, psychology) and last year I took AP world (got a 3 on the exam). I am currently in algebra 2 and chemistry. Math and Science are not my fortes, and despite that I am taking the hardest classes that I can.
I’m taking the SAT in march and I got a 153 on the PSAT, so for the sake of this lets just say I scored around a 1500.
As for EC’s I was in variety of clubs in the past 3 years and I am president of the french club and I joined cross country this year. Also speaking of french, I am in french 5 and will be taking AP French and AP Spanish my senior year. I am also in the top half of my class of 147 students. My school is very competitive.
I am Hispanic and first generation, and I also have ADD which probably explains my low academic performance. I want to major in marketing and go to a good school but I doubt it will happen.
BTW I live in Virginia and at my school our grades are not inflated or “fluffed”-homework doesn’t count.
Chance me with JMU, VT, Radford, UVA, GMU, CNU, UMW, & VCU.
You can get into plenty of colleges, but I doubt that UVA is one of them. I don’t know about in-state acceptance rates at the others. Does your school use Naviance? If not, I recommend setting up an appointment with a college adviser at your school who might know about admission histories for students with similar stats to yours.
thank you so much for your reply!
yes we have naviance and I have talked to my counselor and she said that the only school I can get into out of the ones I mentioned is Radford.
