HS Student research question!

so I received an email from a professor saying the he would be happy to work with me. I really didn't except my first try to be a success, but super happy. in my email, I said "obverse your field" and "eventually" start doing some research of my own under your mentorship, for a few wks during summer.

now that he said yes, he told me to meet him tomm. evening at the university, but I am totally unprepared. I googled elec. engineering and then found that dep. at local university and emailed the professor. so what am I supposed to say now that he accepted me? should I read a little more about his field?

and what does " conducting research" mean- is it like doing some experiments with the professor, recording the results, and putting it down on paper? or like we basically write a huge research paper? so confused and nervous, can someone guide me through the process of "conducting research"???? help!
