My daughter applied to NEU with enough transferable credits to not need her HS transcript and SAT's. She just found out that her HS acciently sent them to neu. She is also applying to other colleges that do require HS transcript and sat's. She is a freshman at Simmons with a 3.4 unweighted gpa. She has great recommendations from college and a very good college transcript. Her HS transcript was not great. She graduated with a weighted 3.1 gpa and lousy sat's. How much will this affect her chances? She did apply to neu last year and was declined. TIA

Well, if she applied last year, they might still have her SATs and transcript. It shouldn't hurt you to call and ask admissions.

Thanks Violaghost. I thought of having her call neu to explain the mixup but a family member said that would only raise a red flag with them. I really don't know what to suggest to her. I just don't know how much weight her HS transcript will have. It is very upsetting because she worked hard to get enough credits to qualify to NOT use her HS transcript. To have her HS accidently send them is a bad blow. She feels this has damaged her chances considerably. I have no idea just how much damaged has been done here! Maybe not much? Can anyone else chime in on this?

Just curious but for Northeastern, you need at least 24 semester hours to not need the High school transcript and SAT requirement. So how did your daughter get enough credits as a Freshman?

Anyway, it says on the website that "If you have completed at least one full semester of academic work: Mid-term grades for the current term can be substituted for the high school transcript and SAT requirement." Couldn't you try to use that to substitute you high school transcript and SAT requirement?

I don't think it would raise a red flag if you try to explain the mix up. You could try asking something a bit more indirectly like "My high school sent my transcript when I did not need them. Will this be considered in my decision?". Their admissions office is very helpful. :D

Thank you Lex. I will pass your suggestion on to my daughter. I also think she should call and appreciate your opinion. I will also ask her about the hours you mentioned.

If anyone else has any comments about the best course of action to take I would welcome your post. Thanks!
