HS transcript with a transfer application?

One school that I'm looking at to apply to as a transfer student wants a copy of my HS transcript as a part of the application. When the time comes for me to apply (I'm looking to transfer Fall 2010), is it just as simple as mailing the transcript request form to my HS? Will they still have it on file after that much time?

This is probably a really silly question but I'm curious as to how it works

You have to go to your high school or call them, and request them to sent your final high school transcript to wherever you want to.

They should still have your file, but you might want to give them a call to see how long they keep records. If you want, you can also ask them now to send you an official transcript (sealed and signed) that you could hold on to unopened and then submit when you transfer.

I called my high school, they told me to send a fax in with certain information to prove it was me and the addresses of the colleges I needed it sent to. My hs was usually bad with helping students, but it was a breeze and I didn’t have to worry about it. I imagine they keep records like that for a while. I’m sure you’re not the first one to have transferred in college.
