HSHSP 2019

@coronaa I’m still in limbo.

Same here

just got rejected!! best of luck to the rest of u

Dang so maybe she’s whittling it down or actually not done with the apps. Still hope.

Best of luck for you in other ventures @coronaa

@bay815 Just accepted my spot! I tried to find your facebook group but had no luck… How do I find you on facebook?

Awesome, I can’t wait to meet you! Go to facebook and search “HSHSP 2019” and it should pop up as a group with the spartan logo. Hopefully this helps :slight_smile:

Anyone else still waiting for news? Feeling less and less optimistic as time goes by ?

rip I paid the nonrefundable deposit for sstp but got the hshsp letter of acceptance today ;-;

Oh man - how much was the deposit? What you going to do? (Quietly crosses fingers you will take sstp spot ?)

I still haven’t heard back lol and its stressing me out. Like at this point I feel like a rejection is going to hurt less and less just because I want to know already!!

does anyone have any ideas on which is better. SSTP already guaranteed me a project in the field I like, but hshsp is $900 less

Got rejected rip.

As for @johnjohn2019 , I feel like both programs are superb and I know a few people who went to SSTP and they said they loved it but I’m pretty sure either camp, you’ll still have a time of your life. Good luck deciding.

John, are you factoring in that you’ll lose your SSTP deposit, in that $900 savings for HSHSP? Iowa or UF SSTP?

I would ask @Bears123 since he seems to be very knowledgable about STEM summer programs. I think HSHSP has a better reputation than either SSTP, but knowing your project ahead of time is very attractive. Either way, I don’t think you can go wrong. But ask @Bears123 .

@curiousme2 yeah, if the deposit wasn’t factored in it would be 2.5k, which would definitely be a game changer
@Bears123 Do you know any of the previous projects for HSHSP, and if usually professors are the same between years?

OOOPS, I tagged the wrong Bears. It’s @GoBears2023 who knows all about summer STEM programs.

@curiousme2
LOL

take hshsp over sstp.

i was going to try pming previous attendees, but apparently u need min 15 posts… anyone know anyone?
@GoBears2023 why

@johnjohn2019 In my opinion the programs are pretty comparable, with hshsp maybe having a little bit more prestige. But if you factor in the $2500 you’d be saving AND the advantage of knowing what your project is in sstp seems like the logical choice. But I’m sure you’ll have a great experience no matter where you go and in the end you can only make the decision that’s best for yourself

I just paid the $3,800 so I’ll be attending!

I never heard back from the waitlist on Bank of America Student Leaders, so I’m ultimately just assuming no news is bad news (which is generally a safe bet when it comes to waitlists). I also don’t even know which one I’d choose if accepted to both, but I’m leaning toward HSHSP anyway. As for LLRISE, I think I’d take HSHSP 7 weeks over LLRISE’s two weeks anyway, but I won’t retract my application because I’m curious to see what they thought of my essays.

Anyways, I can’t wait to meet some of you guys this summer! I requested to join the Facebook group by the way.

@johnjohn2019 , come join us at HSHSP! It’s gonna be an awesome 7 weeks!
