hey starmia, don't worry! someone at my school who got in has decided to go to a different program during the summer...so that's one free spot already! i'm sure you'll get in =]

hmm now this stats thing i guess?
sophomore at private school, in san jose, CA
classes this year: honors latin 3, ap calc, ap comp sci, ap world history, honors brit lit., ap chem
prior research-none really? i worked for a bit at the material science department at stanford last summer, but no real research conducted, just saw/tweaked with machines used for atomic layer deposition
gpa: our gpas are really inflated (4.8 for a+s, 4.5 for 's) so i'll keep it private haha

i am really torn. i WANT TO GO SO BADLY, but i have a major responsibility this summer - i am hoping that they'll be lenient and let me leave like once MAYBE TWICE a week for like 5 hours or something. i only live 1-1.5 hours away. it shouldn't be that bad, can it?

and if i post my stats, it will be way too obvious to people at my school who i am so i am not going to LOL.

are most of you guys from CA? I AM SO EXCITED :]

How selective is it? It is pretty expensive ($4500) for 6 weeks. But it seems to let student do a lot of independent research. Is it highly regarded?

If you had a choice between doing some research in the lab (no charge to you but it is not a formal program) or working at a company or YSP

Those who have been accepted, if you have a facebook account, please join the YSP UC Davis 2008 group!!!! It'll allow us to get to celebrate our acceptances and get to know each other beforehand!

On Facebook just search for : YSP UC Davis 2008

To all YSP hopefuls on the waitlist:
Another spot is open! (although with 58 waitlisted, I'm not sure if this is particularly good news or not.) Anyway, I'm 85% sure that I'll go to WTP instead. It was an extremely hard decision to make (and I'm still not 100% certain!)...I hope I don't get mauled at my school. I think everyone was expecting me to go to YSP. x.x

P.S. LOL I was 8001. I wonder if that means that I was the first to apply. o.O

just wondering, does the application ask for SAT scores? and also is it harder to get into the program after sophomore year than after junior year?

Calls to people on the YSP waitlist began being made on Friday the 2nd, I believe, but I have no idea how many were accepted and how many more, if any, will be.
