A question to those of you who do venture around outside of bubble that HSL so often is: are there other boards on CC that have the same board culture as HSL?

…or lack thereof.

Parents’ Cafe probably comes pretty close, though I’ve never really been on it.

What’s our board culture?

^Yea. The parents in their cafe also refer to each other with nicknames and have running inside jokes.

HSL, as far as I know, is the only board here that has a generally well liked cast of regulars and compared to the other boards on CC HSL is really quite laid back.

^^^ parent’s cafe seems to have the elitism present in the CC Cafe at present, especially in that they have their own subsection for discussing politics

College Life? Except I’ve noticed that their regulars are more notorious instead of “generally well liked”.

In the SAT forum, everyone likes silverturtle. And they all know each other’s SAT scores.

^ I would say College Life isn’t the same because one it’s not as active as HSL and two a lot of the threads are complaining about their roomates and such.

People post REGULARLY on SAT forums?

Parent’s Cafe comes close I would say. Though they are more…professional, I guess.

^ Some dude who’s name start’s with X (I think it’s Xeggo but I’m not sure) had a thread for prep that is appearantly a really good prep method. So those who have methods are probably the SAT regulars…

^I guess that makes sense.

I was just so happy to be done with testing…But if you are helping/advising others, that makes sense.

haha. Xiggi. His thread got stickied.

Thing is about the SAT board is that even if they have regulars their board couldn’t be like HSL because all of the threads are on-topic. I guess that is why posts there count.

Well, when they are waiting for their scores at 4 am they have random conversations.

^ Maybe I should go there more often then… Because of the time difference I’m here at 4AM fairly often and HSL is like a ghost towm because most people are sleeping (though TCBH is up late a lot and Maple wakes up really early)

^^haha. That’s true.

“SAT” is a very narrow topic, while HSL is a broad term that has come to mean … practically nothing. It’s the randomest thing ever now.

I’m pretty sure it was meant for us to discuss our woes and tragedies of apathetic teachers and guidance counselors instead of CCism and other miscellaneous things.

Wait, other people are up at 4? Maybe I should check here more often when I pull off all-nighters…

I think a lot of the people who seem to stay up late are probably from California.

As for HSL culture, I don’t think it really has one. It’s ridiculously random and attracts all sorts of odd people. It used to have a more definitive one though.

The SAT forum probably has one though. A lot of well known people are typically addressed to specifically in thread titles and such.

I try to go to bed around 11 pm.

Things like CCism, that is HSL culture. The randomness is HSL culture…
