HSS req for engineering

the aps that I took only give me:
WHAP-5.3 units- lower division humanities credit
AP Psych-2.7 units- lower division humanities credit

so how many more units do i need for HSS req?

(ii) if i still need 2 from R&C, 2 upper division, and 1 AC what do the lower division humanities credit do for me?

You need a minimum of 6 classes at least that each a minimum of 3 units, but in your case only one of your AP classes will really be counted towards the HSS requirement since they are kind of redundant and you still need 5 other classes anyway.

The extra units from AP tests will give your a higher telebears level, which really doesn’t do much.

higher telebears level is good because?
so essentially my ap psych credit of 2.7 units is useless and doesn’t round up to 3 units?

do u think this would work to fulfill HSS requirements:
PSYCH 167ac (AC requirement and upper divison requriement)
asamst r2a (from the a list)
asamst 181 (from the b list, and satisfies the same department and one must be upper division requirements)

and 2 lower division classes for a total of 5 courses?

would this work? any help would be appreciated!

The only tangible advantage is that once you obtain junior telebear status you are eligible to sign up for upper divs. Your 2.7 units won’t be rounded, but you’ll still get those units.

Yes that would work, and I actually think you would only need 1 more lower div in that case (I rechecked the handbook which says you can get HSS credit for two APs). I’m not completely sure though so you may still want to ask a college advisor at CalSO.

thanks dill_scout for your help!
btw, what do u think of those classes in terms of difficulty?

I was thinking
ESPM 50 AC (for AC requirement)
asamst r2a (a list)
asamst 181 (b list, upper division)

and one more upper division (prob. asamst 121) if i could use the two aps to fulfill lower division classes

No Prob! Glad I could help.

Well, the departments for all the classes you named (including the second group) aren’t known to be difficult, but they will probably require lots of reading and 10 page papers that drive you nuts. I’m not a big fan myself since I’m extremely lazy so I typically go for the easier R1As and R1Bs myself for the lower divs. I got away with doing about 30% of the reading in my Rhetoric R1A class since it was graded mostly for my writing, but we only wrote three papers in that class in the first place (we drafted two of the essays three times). For the upper divs, a lot of work is really unavoidable most of the time.

can i get from moffit to lewis if classes are back to back???

Yes, you can if you walk at a steady pace and its also downhill. My roommate used to go from 100 GBP to Lewis back to back and that’s uphill.

would u recommend me taking asamst r2a or math 1b over the summer? I can’t decide which one i should take?

leong teaches asamst r2a during the fall and vojta or persson teaches math 1b during the fall.
the one i don’t take over the summer will be in my regular schedule during the fall.

Well, the thing for math is, during the summer, the courses are taught by GSIs and are typically easier. The downside is you might not learn as much (or perhaps as thoroughly) as if you take it during the regular school year. It’s really your call. I know that Vojta can be a hard professor but you might learn more from him. It really depends on how serious you are about math. Lower div R&B are typically taught be graduate students both in summer and during the school year.
