HSSEAS Emails

I didn't get one...
so congratulations to everyone who did!

I just got one... has there ever been a case when someone has gotten this letter but not got accepted?

OMG I got one too!
Does this confirm admissions?

i got one too! omg!

Dear Mr. XXXXXXXX:
We have received your application to UCLA's Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS). Your application is among those which I consider highly competitive. However, it is still too soon for admission decisions to be announced. To learn of the official decision, check the Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools (UARS) website UCLA Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools: Decision Notification in late March. You will receive an email from UARS when decisions are available online.

WHAT THIS MEAN??
HINT FOR ADMIT?
OH MAN!

Just got mine as well

got it too, does this mean I'm in???

UCLA | Department of Bioengineering

On the website, it states

"Invitations will be sent out to applicants who have been admitted to UCLA"

I got my letter through e-mail today!

I got this. :) Probably one of the first positive things I've gotten from the colleges I applied to, so I'm pretty happy.

^runnerkid, thats the dept of bioengineering, but since it says that it only makes sense to make the stretch to HSSEAS in general?

hehehe =]

whoever got this , can u plz post ur stats?

Congrats to those of you who got the letter. Can you tell me if all of you who received this letter are bioengineering majors? My son is a mechanical engineering major and DID NOT get this letter. Does anyone know if only biomedical received or all engineering majors? Thanks for your response.

^I applied for chemical engineering and got the letter.

If you look at UCLA's admissions blog, it looks like the letters are a likely letter, but aren't a guarantee:

The letter is not a hoax, but it's not a formal offer of admission either. The School of Engineering can recommend students for admission, but the final notification comes from us--the offer of admission will come from Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools, and the admit letters will have students nine digit ID numbers in them. Good luck!

runnerkid, i got it too for bioengineering!
however, on my email, it says that "our application is among those which I consider highly competitive. However, it is still too soon for admission decisions to be announced."

the website you have is for 2008, and i'm afraid that they posted it after admissions result came out?
please prove me wrong! (:

I got it with EE.

I guess its a good sign though. Even if its not 100%.

But it still doesn't make sense to me to invite someone to an event that is waaay past the time admissions will already be handed out, so its just my wishful thinking..

Got my letter this morning (received 2:13 AM PST), and am pretty happy because I didn't think I knocked the UC app out of the park. Honestly, UCLA isn't that high on my list because I'm already into Michigan engineering, and don't think I'd go to UCLA engineering over Michigan, especially since both are OoS for me.

That said, this has made me reconsider a bit. How does UCLA engineering compare to Berkeley's? I know the general consensus is that Berkeley is superior, but how wide is the gap? Also, how likely is an admit to Berkeley if I got into UCLA? (Assuming I get in after getting the email) I would absolutely love to go to Berkeley, and even consider taking on a sizable amount of debt to attend [instead of going to in state UW-Seattle almost debt free].

Congrats to all who got the letter!

^
If you got into UCLA, I'd say you have a good chance of getting into UC Berkeley. I've known people who got into UCB and not UCLA, vica-versa. Cal's engineering is better than UCLA's but I think the size of the gap depends on your major. I would check college rankings specific to your engineering major.

Congrats to everyone who got the letter! Has there ever been anyone who received the letter but got rejected?

S got this email T 5:33 EST. My hsuband and I are alumni, so we're exited for him. We're OOS.
Aerospace Engineering

Did anyone undeclared receive this letter? I can't remember if HSSEAS had a separate undeclared major or not.

everyone i knew last year who got this engineering letter got admitted. so i guess, congrats lol.
