the website you have is for 2008, and i'm afraid that they posted it after admissions result came out?
please prove me wrong! (:

I think the website is in 2007. I think it was before admissions came out, but since it's not exactly guaranteed (says that the engineering school recommends you, but it's up to UCLA to admit in the end), I wouldn't be too excited.

In looking at the Engineering Open House it clearly states that it is by invitation only. I would venture to say that since perspective students will be visiting labs, touring the school and having a chance to see all the housing options that it's a safe bet to say you'll be getting an acceptance letter. It seems as though if you didn't get this email - it's most likely you won't get in. Do you agree? Are any of you regents scholars, national merit, etc. Just wondering if my son still has a chance.

awwwww, so when does the rejection letter come out

Admission decisions come sometime in late March. You can go through the thread history to see when they have arrived in previous years.

i guess you shouldn't think you are not accepted for sure if you didn't get the email but i haven't heard of anyone that got into engineering without getting the email or letter on these forums but then again there are plenty of students that doesn't use this forum...

Yay!! I got the letter!!

Civil/Environmental Engineering
SAT: 2110 M 770 CR 640 W 700
UC GPA: 4.xx (I forgot)
Asian Green card holder

kick53rv3,i think i scanned thru the 08 posts, and there were some that had no emails but were still accepted into engineering~

so don't lose hope guys =)

ps:
YES! can't wait for UCLA's acceptance letter. haha.. it's gona be tough to decide where to attend~

^ I've seen it go that way, but have any been rejected who received the letter?

^that's also a question i'm wondering =P

I got the email as well (Chem Engineering). I'm REALLY excited, but still a bit cautious because it does say that it's too early to announce admission. However:
(1) For anyone who got the UCSD invite, it didn't mention admission but at the open house they announced that we have been admitted
(2) As someone mentioned before, it wouldn't make sense to invite people to an event that occurs AFTER the decisions are revealed and not accept those people. It would be such a weird scenario: Receive invite, RSVP, then at the end of March get an email saying "Just kidding, you're not accepted!"

Also, I think you still can get accepted to Engineering without getting the invite (if it's anything like UCSD and UCSB).

But I'm not sure...meh.

The only catch is that RSVP is due March 25th, and admission results come out March 19th, so there is still about a week gap between the RSVP date and when official decisions come out.

That said, it sounds like there is a high probability those who got the letter will get in. My understanding is that students who got the letter were recommended to be admitted by HSSEAS, so then it comes down to the office of admissions' decision. Unless you have some quality they find especially repulsive (which is highly unlikely if HSSEAS wanted you), then they'll probably admit you. Just my take on it from other posts.

Also, I don't think this means those who don't get the letter won't get in. I'd say the odds are definitely lower if you didn't get the letter, but I don't think it rules out your admission.

well however u put at it, i am out :'(
not something that i want but that's how it is,
congrats to those who got it, and to those who didn't i feel ur pain as well.

This email really raised my spirits :)

Wait, so if we got the letter, is it a guarantee that we're going to get in UCLA? I got it and i'm happy, but kinda skeptical?
