I'm a high school junior and applied a while back for the high school summer scholars program. Did anyone else do that?

I did HSSP last year, and my advice? Attend HSSP if you can. It was an incredible experience that changed my life. I know that sounds extreme, but i met friends that I know I'll have forever, and i took college courses, and i think i matured so much. Everyday, you have such a good time, and you don'e even have time to sleep because you're having so much fun just hanging out with friends.

i'm sure you'd absolutely love it!!!

Everything I've heard is great - thanks a lot.

I just got some sort of "unofficial" acceptance, so I guess I know where I'm going this summer!

yeahh i'm sure youd love it. and i might do fsap this summer so i might just see you haha.

I wonder if there are any boards where other people in the program can talk before they get there.

I sent in my hssp application a while ago too. I'm stime curious to whether or not they received it, as I never received a confirmation or anything. Anybody else receive an email from the director last friday thanking us for our interest in the program?

I sent my application in a while ago and didn't recieve a confirmation. Finally one of my parents got curious and emailed them to ask whether they'd recieved it. Try emailing the director, she's very nice and I'm sure she'd let you know.
But yes, I got that email too.

What was interesting, though, was that the number of people the email went out to was pretty small (less than 200). I wonder if the application pool is that small...

Hmm...I also noticed that the email list was pretty small. Maybe since there are two sessions people aren't going to apply until later. Plus the website said that there are only going to be around 75 students per session. I do hope the email she sent means that we were accepted into the program!

I was at HSSP last summer as well and it was a lot of fun, don't regret it one bit! Make sure you take classes that you might get credit for in addition to enjoyment, because they ARE expensive. My friend was the head RA or whatever and he said that the program accepts a little less than half of the applicant pool or so.

Did your email say something like this?

"Thanks for your interest in Washington University's High School Summer Scholars Program. You should have the application bulletin by now and we hope you will chose to apply if you haven't already. If we have a phone number for you, a former Summer Scholar from Washington University will be trying to contact you soon to answer any questions you might have..."

btw, thanks kcirsch

Thats the email! I was a little thrown off by the "we hope you apply" line though. I assume they received my application since they obviously have my email address. It would be awfully cruel of them to send out that email and then reject us two weeks later...

Thanks kcirsch...hssp sounds amazing

yeah the number of HSSP members are pretty small. don't worry though, i think it's great because you really get to know everyone well! and you should definitely take classes that you think you'll take in the future, it'll really help you out when it comes to cutting credits down when you go to college. you'll HSSP i promise!!! it was the best summer of my life! :)

It's awesome to know that so many people enjoyed the program. Now if only I can get in...

I ended up emailing Mrs. Hussing about my application...hopefully I'll have some more information tomorrow!
