I need help in looking for a career that I will love to do. My main value is traveling. Anything with this is a plus and I want a career that they are many job opportunities for and a well high salary.

I hate accounting and economics and I want to stay away from those two as possible

Right now the ideas I have:

Internet marketing/PPC/SEO type stuff
work in Business Development
work in advertising
Project Manager
Consultant

I obviously dont want to make my decision based on other people's opinions but sharing there take and knowledge would be so helpful. Are these ideas of jobs good as for what I want? which one is the best? or Is there any other jobs better for me?

Your plans seem a bit too idealistic; everyone wants a “fun” job with a high paying salary. Basically, most any entry-level job in the business world will be not all that “fun” and lucrative at first.

Your interests seem to be marketing / advertising, two fields which have anything but “many job opportunities” unless you want to become a salesman/woman.

yeah right now im at suffolk community college and im most likely transfering to a buisness school in manhattan, baruch college. What i mean by fun, meaning very interesting. Like accounting sounds so boring staying in a offense with countless of papers, its dull. I want something that is interesting, like doing public speaking with buisness. I just want to make sure that I get a degree there is a high possiblilty of getting a good paying job. It says marketing is rising 13% to 2018, i just need some advice…my dad mention project manager but i dont know I got to look into that…are you saying only girls do marketing comparing salesman to women?? just curious

Who is this “it” source? Look at that statistic relative to other disciplines and report back. Accounting offers you the best springboard towards doing big and interesting things in business / the corporate world. It may not be particularly interesting at first, but neither is pretty much any entry-level business job as aforementioned. I’m not preaching about the goodness of accounting per se, but I am saying that a finance / accounting major will offer you better prospects in the future to do “fun” things. Marketing is more about connections and natural talent, not having a degree.

As a last note, accountants speak publicly all the time especially in the audit field.

yeah ill take your advice an try and look into accounting, its just right now im in college and when I took accounting classes, there was nothing interesting, i just want to do something i have passion for cause thats the only way ill have successs with it…

Look at GE’s FLDP program. Rolls Royce has one also. Most F100 companies have rotational programs. International companies would offer opportunity for rotations overseas.

These types of jobs will give you a lot of exposure and movement in a company. Some travel and relocation opportunities also.

Consulting seems up your alley, lots of traveling and working with different companies which could be “interesting.” There’s no magic bullet though, you can find plenty of consultants who are burnt out from the traveling and are frustrated that they never know whether their recommendations are actually implemented.

Well, accounting classes are bound to be pretty unexciting because you are learning a lot of technical skills. The trade off, however, is that you can actually use what you learn professionally, whereas you can have a grand ole time getting a advertising degree, but the reality is that much of the skills you learn can be grasped outside of a classroom.

Im right now strongly considering Buisness Development…what is your opinions about that career? I like it because its basically sociallizing and building relationships with people and is less technical then other careers. Is there a good pay for doing this and will I be able to find a job like this once I get a career? also if there is a better job that you recommend let me know so I can look into it to see if it fits me…

I am extremely sorry to go off-topic, but you need to learn some English. You have horrible spelling and writing skills. Being able to write proficiently will take you a long way.

As for your decision, I would say to choose a major that you enjoy (only you can decide that, ultimately), excel in that major, and also learn a couple of other languages at the same time. Whether you want to do some international work or stay in the States, being multilingual will be a huge advantage for a traveling businessperson. It’s also a nice addition in a personal perspective.

Im planning on transfering to a buisness school in manhattan, baruch college, im not sure how strong is there marketing program im hoping it’s really good. I feel that in NYC there is a lot of job opportunities for me to start internships to do Buisness Development. I find the most interest in that. My father is more technical with information technology and being project manager and was planning on following his steps. But I realize I have more interest in building relationships for partnerships and trying to close deals, which I feel would fit me more…
