Huge Dilemma

Okay. So I got waitlisted at UConn which is one of my very top choices.

I got accepted at 2 other schools and I am waiting for 2 more schools to reply.

So far, I am planning to stay on the waitlist but they won't reply until May 15th probably. Deposit payments for the accepted schools are due on May 1st.

After I make the deposit payment, am I required to withdraw all other applications? So if I pay for Quinnipiac, am I required to decline all other schools?

Unless the school says that specifically, you are not required to withdraw all other applications (otherwise no one would use the waitlist!). You will be fine, but will lose the deposit if you get off the waitlist at UConn.

What Baelor says is absolutely right. If UConn makes an offer to you in July, you then withdraw from the school you made the deposit on in May. They understand because that’s just how WL works. Good luck w/UConn and even at the other school too.

Be honest, do you think it is even worth it to stay on the waitlist?

It could take until June/July for them to reply right? Is it worth the hassle? UConn is one of my top choices but I am not “dying” to go there.

You also have to decide if it’s worth the admissions deposit, which is usually nonrefundable.

The May deposits usually arent that big. The big checks come due later. It isnt worth the hassle? What hassle – you lose your deposit. Talk it over with your parents. My guess – everything they have spent so far, a lost deposit isnt the end of the world. Its not lot you lost the money out of carelessness etc.

Last year, many WL spots opened up, and I suspect that may happen this year too. As the number of applications that kids average goes up, it becomes harder for Adcoms to predict yield. That is what WLs are far isnt it?
