Huge dillema please help

Okay guys, so heres my story. I went to Point Loma Nazarene University, thanks to the recession, I withdrew and went to a jc. I found a major, Cognitive Science, that I immediately fell in love with. I saw that UCSD by far is the most prestigious with this major, however, my heart has always been at UCSB ever since I got rejected after high school. UCSD, Berkley, and UCLA all have Cognitive Science, but it just so happens that UCSB does not. My plan is to transfer into UCSB (via TAG, so Im guaranteed) as an interdisciplinary studies major, and combine Psychology, Philosophy and Computer Science; which is essentially Cognitive Science. I understand UCSD is a much better choice for this major, and there is a small chance I wont be allowed to do my interdisciplinary concoction, but I need to be on a campus with a pulse, and Im in love with SB. I figure since its just undergrad it shouldn't be that big of a deal, however I am almost certain to either pursue a Masters or go to law school.
Thanks for your help.

I don’t see a question. But I think you already made up your choice on UCSB.

My concern is regarding whether I should go to UCSD or UCSB, considering UCSD has my major and is more accredited in my major, or go to UCSB as an interdiscipinary studies major, which isnt as accredited as UCSD and technically isnt the same major.
Also, I was looking at UCLA since they have cognitive science as well. Since I have TAG, the choice is all mine.

Go to UCSB since you want a school with a “pulse”. Although a lot of employers will question your major as an “interdisciplinary major”, though it won’t matter since Cog. Sci majors already have a hard time finding jobs in this economy. UCLA doesn’t have a TAG agreement, unless you meant TAP. Also your “dill pickle lemma” isn’t that big of a deal if your aim is law school, they don’t really care about your major unless you majored in a hard science that will lead to IP like Comp Engineering or Chem Engineering. Maybe avoid “Berkley” if you want to go to law school since GPA is such a huge factor…

ps
Law skewlz will not be impressed with your spellinz/grammas

Cog Sci majors are having a hard time finding employment? Weird… I heard the majority of them were going into the computer industry and making strides. thanks for your help Sephorazn18…even though I can tell without even meeting you that your an arrogant smart @$$.

^Agree with TheSchoolHopper. So many goddamn ignorant elitists on these forums. Unfortunate.

This isn’t really a question anyone can answer other than yourself. By reading your initial post, it seems like you have to decide for your self whether you want a better education or a better college experience.

“I understand UCSD is a much better choice for this major”

vs.

“I need to be on a campus with a pulse”

Once again, this is a decision only you can make, however, I was in a similar dilemma as you. I could either go to UCLA, receive the greater education, however, if I did this I would commute and therefore lack the true college experience… or I could go to UCSB, live on campus and therefore have the true “college experience.” I ended up choosing UCLA simply because I am going to college for the education… If I wanted some life experience I would join the peace corps or go backpacking through Europe for 6 months…

If you need a balance… perhaps a school like UCLA where there is a “pulse” and has your major would benefit you the best.

Thanks for the recommendation Lawl. I was naive to think that UCLA participated in TAG, so I am not guaranteed into UCLA because I havent participated in TAP… lame… I guess what my real, final concern/question is would a major in interdisciplinary studies at UCSB, with essentially the same core work as Cognitive Science, have significantly less value than one at UCSD?
