I am from canada, and apparently i found out, today, that my school only fills out 5 forms for each student, and school report and mid-year count as two different forms…basically that means each student can only apply to 2 and half colleges? i need some advice…

are you sure? check other sources.. whoever told you that might be wrong (i have no idea tho)

my counsellor said it in front of my face. and he said he is not making exceptions.

thats a crappy school...ummmm, maybe you should call the colleges and let them know, or talk to you school and see if they will send out photocopies

oh. he said different copies of common app count as different number of forms.

If this is your biggest problem in life then you have it pretty good.

heh....my school refuses to fill out any form...apparently all we do is attach a transcript and a class profile and thats all...with a letter saying..."We do not fill out any specific school forms nor the common app...etc." same holds true with midyear reports...etc. but hey colleges dont seem to mind!

azneverfrost. where are you from? and what "type" of collegs do not mind?

i thought i hated my school

Uhh... why would your school do this??? I can't imagine any school limiting the number of colleges a student can apply for (unless it gets way over the top... like 13 colleges or something). You should talk to someone about this... perhaps an official? Or the school board? I don't know but this doesn't seem right.

yes. but that's of no use.

damnnnnn is it a private or public school? you should sue them.

Some schools are just dumb like that. Call the colleges and ask what you should do in this case.

Do you guys think most colleges would be willing to help? Will some say, "just apply without the school forms." and then ditch your forms because they are not complete? I understand all colleges are trying to boost the number of their application while reducing the admission rate.

Colleges probably won't be able to change their policies for you, but they may have some good suggestions.

If you're one of the top students in your school, maybe you can get your parents to call the office, or you can go to one of the School Board meetings and argue your side. They might be more willing to listen, also, if you bring supporters in your fellow classmates.

If nothing else works, you'll probably just have to cut down your list to the one or two schools you really like.

that is not fair. how do they expect their students to get into top colleges? if i were you i would egg the school.

I wouldn't "Egg" the school. and I really don't want to argue (i had a heated discussion with my dad today). I am afraid officials would say, "fine. since you argued, i won't even do anything for you."

Write to the colleges you are interested in about your situation. Remember to always get in touch with your area rep in sticky situations like this.

Have your counselor fill out the school reports for 5 colleges. The mid-year reports don't really say much--they just update the grades and give the couselor a chance to let the college know if you've been suspended. You could probably talk to the colleges and get away with sending them an official transcript.

Is this legal?
