I believe Ellemenope's idea should work. And as long as your school doesn't put a limit on the official transcript (and hopefully, the mid-year transcript), you should be ok. The mid-year report is really not that important. Colleges just want to make sure that you didn't catch a case of senioritis... as long as your senior grades didn't drop off; and you didn't drop your calculus class for intermediate golf.

Some of the schools here don't even give out mid-year grades... hence no mid-years report. It didn't seem to matter with the colleges.

My concern is that even if your counselor fill in the 5 copies of school reports, he may not have anything personal to say about you. So basically you are disadvantaged by not having the service of a good college counselor.

You can compensate for this by submitting great teacher's recommendations (let's hope the school doesn't put a limit on that too). Seek out teachers who know you well and like you... who has the skills to write great personalized recommendations, and ask them to write to the colleges on your behalf.

Please remember that there are far, far bigger problems than this. Have a little sense of perspective. "Things which are foolish in comparison with death are foolish in and of themselves."

but he has ALREADY written a letter for my EA school already. he can just reuse it. I am applying to top colleges, therefore every one of these wants a mid-year.

Sorry cedronella for exaggerating. But this IS the hugest problem of my life and if it happened to you, i guess it would be a huge one too.

Your high school is going to know more about how this policy works out in practice than the colleges you are applying to will. I wouldn't bother talking to colleges at this point. Ask the counselor how many colleges other students apply to, and how they worked around the form policy. If the policy does not apply to transcripts, it's probably something like the suggestion above about applying to 5 schools, with forms, and then just sending an updated transcript instead of a mid-term report.

You must go to the crappiest school in Canada!

Ouch!

Anyway, you should cal the colleges and tell them your school's policy. Then you should get your own transcript from the office (it is your transcript you have the right to a copy of it) then go make photocopies. I am sure that colleges will sympathize with your situation as long as you explain it to them in a cover letter or something.

Texas137, the problem is...im from Canada and most of my peers apply to canadian schools, which do not want counsellors to fill out forms. So basically the school doesn't know to which colleges that anybody is applying. school only charges money for the transcript sent.

there are 3~4 classmates who want to go to the US. one of them is applying to 10 and the other 15. I bet they are quite shocked to hear this too.
