<p>OK so MIT says the last month for students to take standardized tests for Regular Action application is Dec. But it also says January tests may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Im sorry but whats this supposed to mean; its so ambiguous.</p>

<p>It means that when you planned to take them in Dec. but got the stomach flu, or you got into an accident on the way to the testing site you can call MIT and give them your sob story and they'll say they'll take the Jan. scores. But in general they'd like to start reading application in January, not February when the January scores are released.</p>
<p>Oh, you don't really need a reason to take them in January, you just need to let the admissions office know so they'll be on the lookout for your scores.</p>
