I'm about to start my senior year at OSU and I have recently been contemplating adding a double major. I'm currently a Human Nutrition and Community Health major.

I'm interested in either double majoring in Public Affairs (minor in Public Health) [I would love to work with a nonprofit organization or a government organization such as nutrition assistance programs] or Food Business Management (minor in Agribusiness). Both minors are requirements of the major.

It will probably take me an additional year to graduate. Currently I'm on track to graduate on time (4 years), but adding the major and minor will most likely put me at 5 years. Although money is not an issue for me, it is also not something I want to waste.

I was hoping to get insight into whether or not to add a second major...the reasons I'm considering it are:
1. I had a very low GPA my freshman year but now I have learned how to study and get almost all A's. Taking additional classes would help me raise my GPA.
2. More time in school means more time to participate in student organizations, get more leadership positions, intern at more places.
3. The above two benefits should help me get into a better graduate school and/or get a better job after college.

I have heard arguments that it's a waste of time and money to double major but taking into account the above arguments, I was wondering what people thought of the pros/cons.

Thanks for any help/insight/discussion you can add. I appreciate it :)
