is this possible? since a lot of people have been telling me pre-med is kind of a joke, i'm probably just gonna skip it and do the pre-med requirements and then apply with the double major to med school. any input?

The only risks I can think of for double majoring are that it may be difficult to maintain a high GPA, and it may be difficult to squeeze in the pre-med courses in addition to the degree requirements for your two majors.

ditto,

It's not that pre-med is a joke per se, it's that there's no pre-med major. It doesn't exist at most places. There's no such thing.

Doing the pre-med requirements makes you a premed - there isn't a "major" per se.

question: is calculus required for pre-med?

i believe so, but don't quote me on it. I think most med schools want calc I and calc II.

My question is about majors...If we're concentrating on premed, do those premed requirements satisfy a major such as biology? Or does the biology major go way beyond the premed requirements?

At most places, the biology major would require much more than just premed.

Premed, after all, only requires two biology classes. Any major that only required two classes would be very light.
