Humanities Recommendation

Ok, so what qualifies and what doesn't?

(This is disregarding courses that fall under social sciences or language.)

Music?
Art?
Whether they be of the performance, historical, or theoretical variety?

I've heard arguments coming from and going in all directions, but none yet from someone familiar with MIT admissions (yes, I've asked via e-mail, but it seems that there is some difficulty in getting through).

Any comments?

"Humanities" at MIT generally means anything within the school of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS), and includes
Anthropology
Comparative Media Studies
Economics
Foreign Languages and Literatures
History
Linguistics
Literature
Music and Theater Arts
Philosophy
Political Science
Science, Technology, and Society
Women's Studies
Writing and Humanistic Studies

So I'd say that anything falling under that umbrella is fine; the MIT admissions website states that the recommendation is to be completed by a "humanities, social science, or language teacher," so I think anything on the above list qualifies.

Thanks, MollieB!
