Humanities/Social Science classes I should take

Hey, I'm probably going to major in either engineering or science, but I want to take a lot of humanities and social sciences classes too.

I'm sure I'll find lots of interests in humanities and social sciences and I'd love to minor in that field. But as of now, I'm not sure whether I like psychology, economics, philosophy, art, etc more. So I'll probably start with classes that pretty much any person should know as a citizen and informed student...economics and US government seem to be important in that regard.

Thanks for the help!

for psych, you need psych 10 before you can do pretty much anything else. so start there. i would imagine that all of the other areas you mention would have equivalent introductory classes to start with, even if they aren’t required. plus many of them might be GEs.

i’d recommend philosophy 8 (philosophy of science), if you take a phil class. it’s a GE but it’s also a very interesting (and warning: challenging) class, and prof smith makes the material understandable. it’s one thing to learn about science: it’s quite another to understand how people decided what science is and how to go about it, as well as the history of science and different perspectives. it’s not for everyone, but if science interests you it’s a wonderful background for the rest of your studies.
