This is probably a stupid question - but can you use a music teacher for your humanities teacher recommendation? My son has been in active in the band/music program in the HS and this is a teacher who really knows him well - and I am sure would write a good recommendation. My son has made district and regional band - so music has been a big part of his high school years. OR should he ask his English teacher who he will only have one semester that does not know him as well as his music teacher?

Go with the music teacher. I asked my choir director instead of my English teacher and got in.

I had my band director write my humanities recommendation for me.

I think you’re safe if you have the humanities recommendation written by a teacher who would teach in the school of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences if at MIT. :)
