I have been accepted to both Humboldt and UC Riverside and was offered a $5,000 scholarship to Riverside, so the tuition is about the same. I am at a loss as to which school I should go to. I know UC's are usually more prestigous, but I know Riverside is one of the UC's that is maybe not as good. I am majoring in political science and I would assume Riverside is better at that major then Humboldt, but I cannot be sure.

These are both my back-up's. I really want to go to UCSB, but with a 3.3 gpa and 1890 SAT I know it is a stretch.

I think what it really comes down to is partying (Humboldt) v. studying (Riverside), Does anyone have an ideas that could help me make a decision?

Humboldt has Political Science? Really?

But seriously, you can actually start the decision process based on climate. Extremes of the desert (heat), vs extremes of the north coast (lots and lots of rain). If either of these could actually effect your frame of mind and happiness, chose the other.

Humboldt either has government or political science I cannot remember which. and I have absolutly NO preference for either climate…how is the party scene at Humblodt?

Legendary, in a “dude, don’t Bogart that joint” kind of way.

Riverside has a huge mid week party scene. The people there don’t have a lot of regard for their fellow studying students. Plus, have you ever been to Riverside? The town? Ack…pitooey, a total armpit, cesspool of America. Very old, very dirty, very, very, very, smoggy. Your lungs will kill you every day.

Except for the clean new shopping mall!
