I got accepted and I'm probably gonna b in the honors program. I have 2 questions. First, is it worth it to be in the honors program or is it just extra work with no true boosts in your curriculum. and if i do go for it, should I live in Hume. Ive heard its nicer and I dont mine the extra $, I just want a social dorm that's nice and I was wondering if i can find that at Hume. If you know about it, hows the social scene there?
thanks

In 2003 my D was accepted to UF in the letter was a form to fill out for the Honors college. It included a deposit request for $25 to reserve her place in the Honors College. I believe you find out that your in the honors college with your acceptance letter.

yes go to the honors program!!!

I was invited in december and the people in the program are truly "Ivy" material from what I saw. it's basically an AWESOME deal.

the honors classes are just easy classes to boost your gpa.

thanks i think i will..but what about hume?...is it worth living there if the ppl dont party as much as in broward or jennings?

I personally think hume isnt worth it. Amnesia, to my understanding you dont get a weighted gpa with honors classes. I took one last year and that what the advisors said.

anyone else?

no honors classes arn't weighted, but they're smaller classes where the curve is generally significantly higher than that of other classes.

Honors classes are typically pretty fun and low-stress, it's easier to get a high grade. Of course you CAN take Calc III or whatever if you want to - but like gatordan said the classes are smaller.

And Hume is DEFINITELY worth it. The rooms are so nice compared to other dorms, you have a walk-in closet and a sink right in the room, and being co-ed makes it very social.
