humor me.

be brutally honest, i probably won't even apply, but if I could apply to an ivy this would be it.

[part time job, grand prize in my school science fair, vice president of symphonic band junior year, secretary of forensics team now, forensics member for three years (extremely rigorous activity.] Other Factors/questions:

Also even my senior year i have a very rigorous schedule: world religions, AP gov, AP world lit/lang, german 4, pre-calculus, anatomy + physiology, latin 1

It looks like your school may weight strangely. Anyway, you look pretty average for a Dartmouth applicant. Your ACT could be considered low, but not off the charts low. I’ve heard that forensics is really intense! Good job! And I can totally relate on the Chron’s disease affecting your junior year: I got mono right before Junior year started and it about cut my EC’s in half and destroyed all 3 of my sports seasons. Just have you guidance counselor mention your illness in his/her recommendation when you apply to colleges. Good luck! : )

Haha so do you think I should apply?

Yeah, go for it. It can’t hurt to try, right? I think your awards and forensics may spark the interests of admissions people.

Yeah. You are definitely not being ridiculous for trying! Also, for some reason I feel that Dartmouth seems to give extra consideration to those with serious diseases that effect your schooling. I know it’s a weird thing to say, but I’ve heard of a bunch of students here who were in similar situations.

Why would you not try? That’s a regret that is completely avoidable. And while I wouldn’t say it was an impossibility in the least, my father often said, “Always try for the impossible; only then will you truly know what’s possible.” It’s excellent advice and applies to just about every aspect of life.

I love that quote! And Dartmoose, are you including mono as a serious disease?

no… i’m talking about a cancer-level of seriousness…

Ok, I didn’t think so. But I just had to ask. I don’t consider mono that serious at all, really.

Mono ranges from minor to completely debilitating.

Re the OP, to do a Sneamia-like analysis: ACT low, GPA good, rank so-so , ECs respectable, awards so-so, only precalc not calc?, never heard of AP “world” lit/lang…

In the end, the only way to make absolutely sure you won’t get in is to not apply. So if you are interested, why not give it a shot?

well my school has a 2 year program for AP english lit/lang

and i have crohn’s, not mono >.<

Oh, did you mean AP World History and AP English Lit/Lang? That makes more sense. I know you have Crohn’s–sorry to hear it!–but the others were discussing mono.

BTW, doesn’t D require SATIIs?
