<p>I plan on having some dry humor in my personal essay for common app. Just to occasional joke here and there but the tone of the essay remains serious. </p>
<p>Is this a good idea or is it too risky?</p>
<p>Is it really needed? I don’t think it’s risky but the problem is that a joke that falls flat (for me) tends to suck away/detracted from the rest of the paper. Unless the humor is an integral part of the essay i wouldn’t bother with it to be hones!!</p>
<p>If you’re normally funny, go for it. Otherwise, play it safe and drop the humor.</p>
